''Twas Noon  By  "Link Tanner"

''Twas noon when I killed that Marshal,
'Twas noon when I shot that teller,
Noon, when I felled that barman,
and noon again... for t'other feller.

'Twas noon when I raided that bank,
'Twas noon when I held up that coach,
Noon, when I robbed the dry goods store,
and noon again... for the widows brooch.

'Twas noon when I murdered that deputy,
'Twas noon when I hit that train,
Noon, when I blew that safe,
and noon again... when the posse came.

'Twas noon when I dispatched them riders,
'Twas noon, when I had that showdown,
Noon, when they begged for mercy,
and noon again... when they hit the ground.

'Twas noon when the blood stopped running,
'Twas noon when all you could smell,
was the stench of my black powder,
and the knowledge... I'd go to Hell.

They say time don't stand still,
For no man, nor less a brute,
So kindly remind  all them widows,
Their kin folk should learn how to shoot.
