The Rebel Raiders
Author: James Tertius Dekay
ISBN #: 0-7126-6490-4
Review by: Colonel Poncho

This book reads like one of the most exciting espionage thrillers you've ever read. It has it all. Action, intrigue, weird gadgets, adventure on the High Seas and clandestine operations in both America and Great Britain. James Bond books are boring compared to this!

Perhaps the most amazing part of this book is that every word is true.
It is the story of the building of the Confederate cruiser CSS Alabama and
her sister ship the CSS Florida on the Mersey and the subsequent adventures
of the ships and their mainly English crews. I cannot praise the writing by
DeKay enough and he has more then succeeded in managing to combine a fast
paced adventure story in the grand 'ripping yarns' style with the truth
about the Alabama and the arguments that rolled on between London and
Washington for many years after the USS Kearsage had sunk the Alabama in the English Channel.

If you have even the slightest interest in the American Civil War read this
book.
