Johnny Ringo - By Joe Poncho

A fascinating article by our own Joe Poncho, about a character of the Old West who had more tall tales told about him than about Wyatt Earp.

The Las Cuevas Fight - By "Mike Whittington"
Most people who follow the career of Capt. McNelly will know the story of the Las Cuevas fight, when McNelly and some of his men crossed the Rio Grande in pursuit of stolen cattle, and after a fight with some Mexicans, managed to negotiate the return of the cattle, or at least some of them. This is the story of this escapade by McNelly and the Texas Rangers.

Sam Bass & Round Rock
- By "Mike Whittington"
Another sterling submission by Captain Mike, documenting a robbery that went wrong. Get yourself a cup of coffee and treat yourself to this fine read.

A Ranger Catastrophe - By "Mike Whittington"
Not every story about the Texas Rangers is one of success, but they are always a story of heroism. The story that follows is a tale of one of the worst days in Ranger history, resulting in one Ranger dead and three wounded, with only one of the four outlaws they were after dead and the others able to flee.

Dick Duncan - By "Mike Whittington"
How Hughes and Aten solved the murders of the Williamson family. Another great read by none other than Mike Whittington. Get yourself a hot cup of coffee and get ready to enjoy a truly fascinating story.

Murder Near The Red River - By "Mike Whittington"
At 10 a.m. on September 3rd 1875, six men were hanged simultaneously on the big gallows at Fort Smith, used by Judge Isaac C. Parker, to deal with the many felons he sentenced to death in his term as the "Hanging Judge" of the Indian Territory, (now Oklahoma). One of these was John Whittington, executed for the murder of John Turner.

Six Telegrams That Tell A Story - By "Mike Whittington"
Six historic telegrams are the only official records of the capture of John Wesley Hardin, by Lieutenant John Barclay Armstrong, on August 23, 1877, at Pensacola Florida. This is a great read by Mike Whittington.

Colonel Colt's London Factory - By "Poncho"
We're in for a real treat here. Poncho writes for the popular GunMart magazine, those who buy the magazine (and it's highly recommended) will instantly recognize his style. This article is a fascinating look into Sam Colt's London factory, a topic that's too good to miss out on! Click the title to read.

The Mighty Colt Walker Lives Again! - By "Poncho"
Another sterling article by Poncho, tracing a brief but informative history of the Old West's most famous hand-cannon - and the modern Italian replica T.A.C. pistols. Read the article and you'll understand the true meaning of the term "hand-cannon".

Johnny Ringo's Le Mat Hybrid - From "JohnnyRingo.net"
This is a great article featured on a site all about the Western series that first aired in 1959! Do you recall what a Le Mat pistol looks like? It's a crazy lookin shootin iron for sure (great article on the Pietta replica black powder version in the June 2003 GunMart). Including a scan of the original February 1961 issue of GUN WORLD.

Shooting The .45 'Kentucky' - By" Poncho"
The ultimate American longrifle, and an American icon in it's own right. Poncho is back with an extremely fun article on how he acquired his own black powder beauty - and how much fun it truly is to shoot with! Don't just sit there, git readin!

Cowboy Action Shooting - From "Popular Mechanics"
This here is an interesting article I found on one of my favourite websites. The article is a great way to understand a little more about this awesome sport, and for those of us who already know a good deal about it, there are some decent photo's to take a look see at.

New Guns Of The Old West - From "Popular Mechanics"
This article offers a great look at the current line of modern replica's of Old West firearms. It's worth a read if you're interested in who's making them nowadays, and just how popular they still are. The article traces a brief history of the Single Action Army, and has short run-downs on the top manufacturers. Git readin'!

Tommie Haw - Dillon Pioneer - From "The Mai Wah Society"
A culturally important piece about a respected Chinese Pioneer. This is a great article found on the Mai Wah Society's website. The Chinese people played a big role in the Old West (and even much earlier than that), and you'd do well to read this fascinating article.
